COVER REVEAL: Maybe in Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid →

Check out the gorgeous cover for Taylor Jenkins Reid’s newest novel, MAYBE IN ANOTHER LIFE, releasing July 7, 2015. I’m in LOVE with this cover; simplicity meets modern-day chic. Don’t forget to read the blurb and pre-order this beauty!

Goodreads’ Book Description:
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college, but on the heels of a disastrous breakup, she has finally returned to her hometown of Los Angeles. To celebrate her first night back, her best friend, Gabby, takes Hannah out to a bar—where she meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.

It’s just past midnight when Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. Ethan quickly offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay.

Hannah hesitates.

What happens if she leaves with Gabby?

What happens if she leaves with Ethan?

In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into surprisingly different stories with far-reaching consequences for Hannah and the people around her, raising questions like: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?

Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW + GIVEAWAY: Becoming Rain by K.A. Tucker →

Hello readers! Are you a K.A. Tucker fan? (Of course you are, that was a redundant question.) I am exceedingly excited to give you an exclusive interview with Tucker on her newest book, BECOMING RAIN, releasing March 3, 2015. If you loved BURYING WATER, the first book in this series, you are going to be completely enamored with BECOMING RAIN. Don’t forget to join the giveaway at the bottom of the page to enter for a chance to win a signed copy of BECOMING RAIN, open internationally!

Becoming Rain

Luke Boone doesn’t know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it—the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he’s finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set—one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it’s not exactly legal, Luke’s never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game—at only twenty-six years old, she’s one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington, DC, major crime unit, and she’s just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the West coast’s most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she’ll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year-old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle’s footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she’ll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she’ll even want to.

This book was honestly such a phenomenal read. What inspired you to write it?

When I introduced the idea of a car theft ring into BURYING WATER, I knew that I’d want to write more about it. It’s an unusual topic that hasn’t been overplayed, and there were many ways that I could take it. Luke Boone was obviously the perfect protagonist for it.

We first met Luke Boone in BURYING WATER, the first book in this series. What made you want to elaborate on his character? Other than him being perfect book-boyfriend material 😉

My readers know that I like my characters flawed, and there was no doubt in my mind that Luke Boone was just that. He’s young and somewhat naïve. His main focus is on money, and his values are skewed by an uncle who isn’t evil or cruel in the sense that you would think him to be.  I knew it would be a challenge to portray him.

Clara Bertelli is one of my favorite heroines I’ve read about. Her voice is entirely unique and authentic. She’s got sass, determination, and a bit of a soft spot for hot mechanics (I’m with you, Clara, 1000%). What was your writing process when you created Clara’s character?

Creating Clara was tough. I had to take the very practical, career-focused, right-and-wrong side of her, and merge that with a softer “human” side, that can be swayed by emotions and needs. I’m fortunate in that I have a very good friend who is an undercover police officer, so I was able to ask her (countless) questions and bounce ideas off of her.

The suspense in BECOMING RAIN is SO real. What do you like best about writing romantic suspense novels?

Suspenseful stories add that level of complexity and conflict that, as a reader, I crave. As a writer, the plotlines are multifaceted but at the same time easier to write because I have more character motivations to work with.

Luke Boone’s uncle, Rust, is a pretty shady character. What kind of research did you have to do in order to fully bring out his character’s persona and business?

I did a lot of reading (news articles and non-fiction books about how these crime rings operate), and I asked a lot of questions of my friend, who has personally worked on a car theft ring case. In terms of Rust specifically, I’d say he’s a somewhat unconventional bad guy. I really wanted him to be more than one-dimensional, so I let the reader see two sides of him: the criminal and the loving uncle.

Back to Luke, because I’m hopelessly in love with him and I’m A-Okay with it. What/who inspires you to write such endearing heroes?

I find flawed characters fascinating; especially when I can give them redeeming qualities and turn them into someone you would root for, or sympathize with. The great guy who always makes the right decision is completely fictional to me. No human being always makes the right decision.

Without giving away too much to the readers, what was your favorite scene to write?

The scene in Portland’s Japanese Garden. That’s where Luke really begins to express himself, and Clara (as Rain) begins to realize exactly how much trouble she’s gotten herself into. Plus, I can picture them lying beneath that canopy of branches, in the rain.

Can you give us a sneak peek on what we should expect with CHASING RIVER, the next book in this series?

It is based on Amber (Jesse’s twin sister) and set in Ireland. That’s all I’m telling anyone right now (oh…and the cover is GORGEOUS. It’s my favorite of this series, so far.)

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Five minutes until the interview begins.
Fresh on the heels of her college graduation, Cameron Heart has landed an interview at a prestigious architecture firm.

Four minutes until the interview.
She knows she’s only there because the owner, Grayson Cole, is her older sister’s friend.

Three minutes.
For the last seven years, Grayson has been the most intimidating man Cammie has ever had the pleasure, or displeasure, of being around.

Two Minutes.
But the job opportunity is too good to pass up. So, Cammie will have to ignore the fact that Grayson is handsome enough to have his own national holiday.

After all, she shouldn’t feel that way about her new boss. And, he will be her new boss.

“I’m not intimidated by you,” I said with a confident smile.
“Perhaps we should fix that, Ms. Heart. Close the door.”

Natasha’s Experience:
This book right here took over my entire Saturday. Did I do anything productive before and after reading it? NOPE. Because my book hangover was in full-effect.

I can always count on R.S. Grey to deliver a beautifully-executed NA read with the perfect amount of romance, hilarity, life lessons and a gorgeous hero. In this case, Grayson Cole takes that spot and 10000% owns it.

Cammie Heart is everything I want to be. She’s exceedingly brave and incredibly tenacious. She knows what she wants and she’s not afraid to go after it, even if rejection is a possibility.  She’s great at what she does and isn’t one to back out of something before giving her all. Her goals in life are simple: land a job at Grayson’s firm and save enough money to move to Paris. Grayson Cole just happens to be a bit of a minor setback.

Cammie has been infatuated with Grayson ever since she first met him 5 years before interviewing to work at his firm. He was every bit of perfect and, because he was her older sister’s friend, 100% unattainable. But now she’s back in his life, ready to go after her teenage dream.

Grayson Cole. YUM. All kinds of YUM. He’s ridiculously successful, good-looking and might have a bit of a crush on Cammie Heart. I’ll just let you see for yourself how that plays out though 😉

I love this story to pieces. It had everything I wanted and then some. Bravo, R.S. Grey. You are talented beyond belief and I’m such a fan of your words. Now how can you find me a Grayson Cole in real life???

“I loved him fiercely, wholeheartedly, and without abandon. Nothing makes you love someone like the shadow of an impending goodbye.”

(A bit of a foreshadowing quote, hmm?)

Even the Moon Has Scars →

eventhemoonRating: 5 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Two strangers.
Two broken hearts.
One night to set each other free.

Almost dying from an undiagnosed heart condition means every second of your life is a precious gift to be guarded.
Lena Pettitt was born a miracle.
And her parents never let her forget it.
Even if that daily reminder kept her from experiencing the one thing they were trying to protect most–her life.

Gabriel Martinez’s heart has been ripped out.
His pride has been stomped on.
Oh, and he now has an arrest record that’s caused an even bigger rift between him and his DA mother. All for a love that wasn’t really true.

Now he’s exiled to his grandmother’s, working on his late grandpa’s old Corvair, when a shivering girl knocks on the garage door. Lena, left alone for the first time ever, has locked herself out of her house. Gabe knows he could help this girl get back inside her house–but that may mean missing the next train to Boston to pick up the part he’s spent eight weeks tracking down. She can wait for him at his grandmother’s or…

A few hours, an aluminum valve cover, and some strong coffee later, neither Gabe nor Lena can feign disappointment when they race to the station and arrive just as the last train home from Boston is pulling out.

As jaded as he is, Gabe can’t deny the fact that he’s excited to spend the night exploring a city he knows nearly every corner of, with a girl who sees magic in the simplest things.

Lena has been waiting for her tiny world to crack open her entire life. Now that it’s finally happened, she finds the only thing she can focus on is the unexpected tour guide who opens her eyes to possibilities she never imagined.

All they have is this one night, together, under the bright moon in a city full of hidden beauty.
It’s one night that will change how they see the world and the paths their hearts will take forever.

Natasha’s Experience:
GAH! Even the Moon Has Scars just warms me up from the inside out. I can’t even describe how beautiful, how absolutely stunning, this YA contemporary novel is.

I read this book a couple of months ago and it still has not left me. It’s left such a mark on me, changed the way I see the world, that I can’t imagine ever forgetting this story.

Lena Pettitt and Gabe Martinez form an unconventional friendship after Lena gets locked out of her house. Gabe, being the most adorable gentleman, offers to help Lena get back into her warm sanctuary, but he has to run into the city to grab a car part before the shop closes. Gabe decides to take Lena with him and together they experience one hell of an adventure. (I need to book my ticket to Boston, ASAP)

“But now I think Lena was the thing I wasn’t looking for. The thing I wasn’t expecting. Maybe even the thing that can save me.”

I love that feeling of understanding that comes with this book. Even though I don’t necessarily face the same problems as Lena and Gabe do, I completely get them. They are such genuine characters with realistic teenage problems.

I will never underestimate the power of a good YA novel. The pages are usually filled with incredible life lessons and emotional truths. Steph Campbell writes a compelling love story that begins at the end of a person’s comfort zone.

“Sometimes, risking everything is the only option.”

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Hooking up is only the beginning of the fun in this sexy and irresistible second installment of the thrilling New Adult series, Boomerang.

Adam Blackwood has it all. At twenty-two, he’s fabulously wealthy, Ryan Gosling-hot and at the top of the heap in the business world. His life is perfect, until a scandal from his past resurfaces and knocks the tech wunderkind down, throwing his company, Boomerang, a hook-up site for millennials, into chaos.

Three years ago, Adam married his high school love—and then lost her in a tragic accident. Now, the heartbreak and guilt he’s tried to bury with work and women begins to take over his life.

Alison Quick, the twenty-one-year-old daughter of a business tycoon—and the very ex-girlfriend of Boomerang’s former intern, Ethan—has a problem of her own. She’s got one chance to prove to her father that she deserves a place in his empire by grabbing control of Boomerang and taking Adam down.

But as Alison moves in on him, armed with a cadre of lawyers and accountants, she discovers there’s much more to Adam and Boomerang than meets the eye. Will earning her father’s approval come at the price of losing her first real love? It appears so, unless Adam can forgive her for wrecking his life and trying to steal his livelihood. But Alison hopes that old adage is right. Maybe love can conquer all.

Natasha’s Experience:
Noelle August has done it again (as if I had any doubt!). In the first installment of this series, BOOMERANG stole my heart and gave me one of the funniest–and loveliest–stories I have ever had the pleasure of reading. REBOUND stole my breath (because I was honestly laughing so hard at times) and gave me the perfect combination of steaminess and enticing drama.

REBOUND may have topped the first book, which is definitely saying something. I mean, I loved BOOMERANG, but now I’m just obsessed with REBOUND.

We first met both Adam and Alison in BOOMERANG and they were both pretty mysterious and intriguing characters. Finally getting inside their heads was quite the experience.

Alison Quick is misunderstood and has lost her faith in good, healthy relationships. She’s pretty closed off and likes to keep her distance from anyone that might want to change that about her. Adam Blackwood definitely wants to change that. They work flawlessly together because they complement each other in the best possible ways. They also both happen to be stubborn when it comes to love. Finding a balance between business and pleasure becomes exceedingly difficult with their attraction stuck in the middle.

I’m a HUGE fan of the writing duo, Noelle August, because they have such an amazing writing dynamic and always manage to reel me in with their words. This fun, lighthearted, hilarious, sexy-as-hell read is one you don’t want to pass up.

In case you missed BOOMERANG…boomerang

Welcome to Boomerang.com, the hottest recent startup in the trendiest city: Los Angeles, CA. Why? Because the site offers no-strings, no-fuss relationships for those on the rebound and those who crave connection—without all the baggage of long-term promises.

But that start-up buzz is fading as Boomerang struggles to grow. The solution? Find two brilliant interns and give them a crack at launching the site into the stratosphere.

Enter Mia Galliano and Ethan Vance. These young strangers—Mia an aspiring filmmaker, and Ethan at the end of a collegiate sports career—are both bright and motivated. And for very different reasons, they’re both hungry and up for the challenge.

But things go wrong from day one. For one thing, the night before their stint at Boomerang begins, Ethan and Mia meet at a bar and fall into bed together. What exactly happened between them? Good question. They’re both hazy on the details. But they do know how awkward it is when they end up sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.

There they find they’re competing for just one job—at a company with a strict no-dating policy. But their connection is as powerful as their ambition. Will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other?

Teaser 1

Check out this book excerpt!

There are three things you should know about me.

One, I can read a bluff like a neon street sign. Everyone gives themselves away in some form of a twitch or another, and after a few rounds at the table with me, I can guarantee I’ll know yours. So, throw your best fake smile or confident wink at me, but just know I can see right through you – and we both know there’s no sense in betting all your chips with nothing but a Jack high in your hands.

Two, I have the best poker face in the game. I’ll make you think you’re reading me, show a little sign of being nervous maybe or bite my lip in anticipation of the river, but it’s all part of the plan. I’m building you up to expect the wind to blow one way just so I can pull out an industrial size fan and send your shit flying just the opposite. And if by chance you do get to me, you won’t know – because I don’t let it show, not even a little. If anything, I’ll make you think you actually played right into my hand – making you the nervous one, in turn. The key to a killer poker face is to strip your soul of all emotion and show only what you purposefully want the other person to see. And trust me – I’m the lead singer in the band of No Emotion.

Number three and, perhaps, the most important thing to know about me is this: I know when to fold. I know when to hang in tough, when to push my luck, when to bluff my ass out of a tight situation and when to throw the cards down and run as fast as I can in the other direction. In poker and in life, it’s all about knowing the game you’re playing and how you stand up to the competition. And pace – you have to know when to push and when to sit back and let it ride. Now don’t get me wrong – I hate throwing in the towel as much as any other competitive, adrenaline chasing poker junkie, but I’ve learned even in my short time in the game that there are some hands you just don’t mess with… some cards that forever trump others.

All three of these things are true. If you asked any sports reporter, any poker analyst, any pro standing around watching the final table of this tournament right now – they would tell you all three of these things about me and maybe add in a few notes of their own. Which is why I can’t understand why my hands are trembling, why my skin is slick with a film of sweat as I drop any shred of a poker face I have left and push the remainder of my chips forward – toward the one person who managed to get under my skin, to break me down, to change the game, to flip me on my ass and toss every rule I’ve ever had into a massive wood chipper, leaving me with nothing but the shavings.

The last thing I see before I close my eyes and give one final push of the chips toward the center of the table are the burning blue eyes that will forever haunt me, forever remind me that – even when we think we have a game completely mastered – there’s always the possibility that Chance and his brother, Luck, will show up and utterly screw everything.

“All in.”

Between Everything and Us →

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Matisse Evans is determined to make her sophomore year of college successful after failing out of a prestigious art school and spending a horribly boring gap year at home. Despite her focus, time isn’t on her side as she struggles to hold down three jobs so she can afford her first apartment while juggling course work. In the chaos of it all, Beau Grady moves in and shakes up her world. A college dropout and tattooed bad boy, the rumors about Beau mean one thing for Matisse—trouble. Paralyzed by the fear that she’s missing out on life, Matisse discovers plans may unravel, but what rises in their wake can be worth the uncertainty.

After spending the summer couch surfing, Beau Grady moves into an empty room at his ex-girlfriend’s Portland bungalow, skipping his senior year of college to spend his days working at a Vietnamese food cart instead. Once a star hockey player and gifted student, he’s put his life on hold after receiving a life-altering diagnosis, complacent to live in the moment. Hiding behind false rumors and bad habits, Beau falls for Matisse, letting her believe the worst until their relationship blooms into something they both can’t ignore. Falling for her means having to face a future he’d rather forget, but loving her just might be worth it.

BEAU Tour Banner

Natasha’s Experience:

I can’t even explain how much I love this book. I can’t put the amount of love I have for this book into a set number of words. My words are useless when it comes to describing the absolute adoration I have for this book.

Something I can’t seem to wrap my head around going into a new read is that stories can surprise you. They can grip your heart in their hand and they can shock the hell out of you. Using the right words and perfectly structured sentences, they can make you feel so much.

That being said, this book completely slayed me. I am not the same person I was before reading this story about a girl named Matisse and a boy named Beau. I think it’s because it’s so much more than just a new adult novel. It has real, raw issues and it has depth. The characters are alive and personable. I felt like I knew them. I felt like I was them.

“I think it’s so easy to fall into the world when you’re not ready. It’s such a big place, and we’re all very tiny in the scheme of things.”

Matisse Evans is an art student trying to figure out exactly what she wants to do with her life. It doesn’t help that her parents are breathing down her neck, constantly telling her that succeeding as an artist is the best path for her to take. She’s confused and torn between going after what she wants and going after what everyone thinks is best for her. She believes she can’t afford to make mistakes at this point in her life, and it doesn’t help that she has Beau Grady as a roommate.

“Even though she’s right, even though I am a complication, I can’t shake the feeling in my gut that we’d be a good one.”

Beau Grady. Can we take a second to appreciate everything beautiful that is Beau Grady?

He moves like oil paint dries—slow—as if he might change me and needs time to decide the final picture.”

He’s funny, cocky, and arrogant at times, but means well. He’s got some of the best redeeming qualities in a guy. Unfortunately, he is dealing with a terrible hand at life.
Man, I love that guy. Like, I love that guy. Every little bit of him. Even though he broke my heart, I learned so much from him.

This book gives you a different side of New Adult. The themes that you find and the meaning you derive from them make up something much bigger than what I originally thought I would receive. You find that figuring yourself out is crucial to how well you open up to other people.

“We’re always going to feel a bit lost. It’s the part of growing up that no one ever tells you about.”

(This was a lot longer than I planned for so I apologize for rambling at times. I just reeallyy loved this book.)
