Ivy Lee, a talented tattoo artist who spent the early part of her twenties on the move, is looking for a place to call home. She thinks she might have finally found it working in her uncle’s tattoo shop in San Francisco. But all that changes when a robbery turns deadly, compelling her to pack up her things yet again.

When they need the best, they call him. That’s why Sebastian Riker is back in California, cleaning up the mess made after a tattoo shop owner with a penchant for blackmail got himself shot. But it’s impossible to get the answers he needs from a dead body, leaving him to look elsewhere. Namely, to the twenty-something-year-old niece who believes this was a random attack. Who needs to keep believing that until Sebastian finds what he’s searching for.

Ivy has one foot out of San Francisco when a chance encounter with a stranger stalls her departure. She’s always been drawn to intense men, so it’s no wonder that she now finds a reason to stay after all, quickly intoxicated by his dark smile, his intimidating strength, and his quiet control.

That is, until Ivy discovers that their encounter was no accident—and that their attraction could be her undoing.

And don’t forget BURYING WATER, BECOMING RAIN and CHASING RIVER, the first three books in this thrilling series…

buryingwater1 Becoming Rain chasing

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

Luke Boone doesn’t know exactly what his uncle Rust is involved in but he wants in on it—the cars, the money, the women. And it looks like he’s finally getting his wish. When Rust hands him the managerial keys to the garage, they come with a second set—one that opens up the door to tons of cash and opportunity. Though it’s not exactly legal, Luke’s never been one to worry about that sort of thing. Especially when it puts him behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 and onto the radar of gorgeous socialite named Rain.

Clara Bertelli is at the top of her game—at only twenty-six years old, she’s one of the most successful undercover officers in the Washington, DC, major crime unit, and she’s just been handed a case that could catapult her career and expose one of the West coast’s most notorious car theft rings. But, in order to do it, she’ll need to go deep undercover as Rain Martines. Her target? The twenty-four-year-old nephew of a key player who appears ready to follow in his uncle’s footsteps.

As Clara drifts deeper into the luxurious lifestyle of Rain, and further into the arms of her very attractive and charming target, the lines between right and wrong start to blur, making her wonder if she’ll be able to leave it all behind. Or if she’ll even want to.

Armed with two years’ worth of savings and the need to experience life outside the bubble of her Oregon small town, twenty-five-year old Amber Welles is prepared for anything. Except dying in Dublin.  Had it not been for the bravery of a stranger, she might have. But he takes off before she has the chance to offer her gratitude.

Twenty-four-year-old River Delaney is rattled. No one was supposed to get hurt. But then that American tourist showed up. He couldn’t let her die, but he also couldn’t risk being identified at the scene—so, he ran. Back to his everyday life of running his family’s pub.  Only, everyday life is getting more and more complicated, thanks to his brother, Aengus, and his criminal associations. When the American girl tracks River down, he quickly realizes how much he likes her, how wrong she is for him.  And how dangerous it is to have her around. Chasing her off would be the smart move.

Maybe it’s because he saved her life, or maybe it’s because he’s completely different from everything she’s left behind, but Amber finds herself chasing after River Delaney. Amber isn’t the kind of girl to chase after anyone.

And River isn’t the kind of guy she’d want to catch.

The Friend Zone →

TFZ+AmazonRating: 5 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Gray doesn’t make friends with women. He has sex with them. Until Ivy.

The last thing star tight-end Gray Grayson wants to do is drive his agent’s daughter’s bubblegum pink car. But he needs the wheels and she’s studying abroad. Something he explains when she sends him an irate text to let him know exactly how much pain she’ll put him in if he crashes her beloved ride. Before he knows it, Ivy Mackenzie has become his best texting bud. But then Ivy comes home and everything goes haywire. Because the only thing Gray can think of is being with Ivy.

Ivy doesn’t have sex with friends. Especially not with a certain football player. No matter how hot he makes her…

Gray drives Ivy crazy. He’s irreverent, sex on a stick, and completely off limits. Because, Ivy has one golden rule: never get involved with one of her father’s clients. A rule that’s proving harder to keep now that Gray is doing his best to seduce her. Her best friend is fast becoming the most irresistible guy she’s ever met.

Which means Gray is going to have to use all his skills to get himself out of the friend zone and into Ivy’s heart. Game on.

Natasha’s Experience:
OMG. I have been dying to get Gray Grayson’s story ever since I read THE HOOKUP and completely fell in love with Drew BAElor and Kristen Callihan’s writing.

Gray Grayson is an enigma. You meet him thinking he’s just a womanizer who enjoys the game more than anything else in the world. Both of these statements are slightly true, but he is so much more than that. He’s an actual genius and incredibly hung up on a beautiful girl named Ivy Mackenzie.

“I’m so gone on her, I don’t know my left from right anymore. She’s my center line.”

They “meet” when Gray gets to loan out Ivy’s car (golf cart?) and begins texting her about said car. Their texts eventually become addicting and a friendship ensues. Ivy is spending time with her mom in Paris, baking her days away and learning what it takes to run a successful Parisian bakery. When she comes back to the states, she’s already crushing on Gray (I feel you, Ivy) and their actual meet-up was so glorious, I almost want to reread it right now.

“I’ve just officially met Ivy Mackenzie, and I realize I’ve missed her for what seems like years.”

This whole friends-to-lovers situation was so intense; as you read along, you obviously want their connection to go somewhere, but you are so nervous about them changing their incredible dynamic as friends.

“We’re getting too close. The danger of my heart being annihilated is real.”

Callihan has knocked me off my feet with THE FRIEND ZONE. Gray Grayson stole my heart, Ivy made me cry (thanks for that!) and together their story unfolds beautifully, making you wonder if the ‘friend zone’ is actually the best thing that could have happened to them.

“The fact is, Ivy, for me, there is one absolute truth. The sum of my existence equals you.”

I loved every inch of this story and can’t wait to see what comes next in the Game On series. Kristen Callihan, keep doing you because I’m all for it.

Blog tour | Black Iris →

Rating: 6 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
It only took one moment of weakness for Laney Keating’s world to fall apart. One stupid gesture for a hopeless crush. Then the rumors began. Slut, they called her. Queer. Psycho. Mentally ill, messed up, so messed up even her own mother decided she wasn’t worth sticking around for.

If Laney could erase that whole year, she would. College is her chance to start with a clean slate.

She’s not looking for new friends, but they find her: charming, handsome Armin, the only guy patient enough to work through her thorny defenses—and fiery, filterless Blythe, the bad girl and partner in crime who has thorns of her own.

But Laney knows nothing good ever lasts. When a ghost from her past resurfaces—the bully who broke her down completely—she decides it’s time to live up to her own legend. And Armin and Blythe are going to help.

Which was the plan all along.

Because the rumors are true. Every single one. And Laney is going to show them just how true.

She’s going to show them all.

Natasha’s Experience:
I will start off this experience by saying there is no way I can possibly narrow my experience with BLACK IRIS down to coherent sentences.

“Scars tell a story. My whole life was written on my body. How are you supposed to leave the past behind when you carry it with you in your skin?”

To say that I loved this story, the characters, the dark and gritty feel of the words written on this book’s pages is probably the biggest understatement of the year. My love for BLACK IRIS is feverish; it knows no bounds.

“What brings you back to life also gives you the means to destroy yourself.”

Laney’s quest to find some sort of peace with herself and her demons took me on the craziest (literally) ride of my literary life.

Side note: if you thought you were confident with your sexuality before reading BLACK IRIS, I can assure you that your confidence will wane after finishing this book. The second I closed the story, all I could think was, “What am I!? Am I gay now!? Is this how it starts for me? I will have to adapt; I am no longer the same person I was before this story, clearly.”

Moving on…

Leah Raeder creates this world filled with terrible, ignorant people who make you want to rip your eyeballs out (sorry, graphic?) and characters who need their voices to be just a little bit louder, who need to be heard just a whole lot more.

“Nothing hurts more than being alive.”

My heart ached from beginning to end with this story. There was romance, a ton of suspense, a more thorough view on what life is like to be queer, and a shining bright light on the ever-so-important theme of mental health. Being a psych major, this story screamed importance to me; the idea of educating yourself on mental health, even if you believe it does not pertain to you, is crucial to understanding the people around you.

“Sometimes all you know about where you’re going is that it’s away from where you are.”

BLACK IRIS was jarring, admirable, complex, beautifully poetic and astonishingly brave. This story will forever be imprinted on my soul. I’m entirely infatuated with the characters, the darkness that tinges the pages of this book, and the overall theme of overcoming personal demons before they have a chance to pull you under.

Falling Away →

falling awayRating: 5 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Jaxon is the guy she’s supposed to avoid.

K.C. is the girl he won’t let get away….

K.C. Carter has always followed the rules—until this year, when a mistake leaves her the talk of her college campus and her carefully arranged life comes crashing to a halt. Now she’s stuck in her small hometown for the summer to complete her court-ordered community service, and to make matters worse, trouble is living right next door.

Jaxon Trent is the worst kind of temptation and exactly what K.C. was supposed to stay away from in high school. But he never forgot her. She was the one girl who wouldn’t give him the time of day and the only one to ever say no. Fate has brought K.C. back into his life—except what he thought was a great twist of luck turns out to be too close for comfort. As the bond between them grows, he discovers that convincing K.C. to get out from her mother’s shadow is hard, but revealing the darkest parts of his soul is nearly impossible.…

Lindsay’s Experience:
Just when I thought I could not possibly fall even more in love with Penelope Douglas’ writing, she has managed to prove me wrong… again. FALLING AWAY has now earned its rightful place as my favorite book in The Fall Away Series and for a number of reasons. The darkest past of all four books lies in this story, and it just so happens to belong to her most swoon-worthy character yet.

Shelburne Falls is the last place K.C. Carter expected to find herself in after venturing off to college with her scumbag boyfriend, but maybe returning home as a felon and newly single has its perks—especially when the mysterious boy who clouded her thoughts a few years ago still lives in the same house. It also might help that K.C. is staying next door to him for the summer.

Jax Trent, now a few inches taller and more ripped than ever, manages to sneak his way back into K.C.’s life, but neither of them expect the baggage that comes with it. The previous books of The Fall Away Series do a good job of depicting K.C. as a both a lost soul and naïve teenage girl who lets a boy interfere with her future, but she comes back in this story stronger than before.

K.C. proves herself in this story after her betrayal in Douglas’ previous works, and so does Jax as he overcomes his hidden past full of disturbing abuse. After living in the background of The Fall Away Series, they steal the spotlight in this edition as they unite in an effort to mend each other’s broken pieces.

This book is filled with steamy scenes that will make your heart break but come back together time and time again. No longer a quiet voice under her mom’s request or a girl living in her friend’s shadows, pride is the only feeling I have towards K.C. as she overcomes the misinterpreted perfection in her life. The same can be said for Jax, as he defeats the few shadows that still stand to see him fall. Douglas does a phenomenal job of character development in this one, making it a must-read.

The Mistake →

the mistkaeRating: 4.5 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
He’s a player in more ways than one…

College junior John Logan can get any girl he wants. For this hockey star, life is a parade of parties and hook-ups, but behind his killer grins and easygoing charm, he hides growing despair about the dead-end road he’ll be forced to walk after graduation. A sexy encounter with freshman Grace Ivers is just the distraction he needs, but when a thoughtless mistake pushes her away, Logan plans to spend his final year proving to her that he’s worth a second chance.

Now he’s going to need to up his game…

After a less than stellar freshman year, Grace is back at Briar University, older, wiser, and so over the arrogant hockey player she nearly handed her V-card to. She’s not a charity case, and she’s not the quiet butterfly she was when they first hooked up. If Logan expects her to roll over and beg like all his other puck bunnies, he can think again. He wants her back? He’ll have to work for it. This time around, she’ll be the one in the driver’s seat…and she plans on driving him wild.

Natasha’s Experience:
In the highly anticipated second installment in the Off-Campus series, we finally get a good (amazing) look into John Logan, Garrett’s best friend from THE DEAL.

John Logan = A++++

He’s a big-time hockey player with the brightest and probably most successful future ahead of him, but he has his reserves about pursing a hockey career. Instead, he pursues a lovely gal named Grace Ivers, and he’s absolutely relentless (for good reason).

Meet Grace Ivers. She’s gorgeous, a bit tentative and completely apprehensive over her newfound friendship with John Logan. He kind of stumbles into her life and tilts it completely upside down. I love that she’s not even a fan of hockey because it’s a hilarious blow to Logan’s precious ego. Don’t worry, Logan. I’m completely hockey illiterate, but I’ll brush up with the sport for you 😉

Side note: the cameos with Hannah & Garrett make my life complete. I miss them daily; I should probably reread THE DEAL.

A lot goes down in the first half of the story so when Logan decides to pursue Grace, she stands her ground and doesn’t let Logan get what he wants without a healthy chase.

Their friendship was so fun to be a part of; I loved the silliness that was always brewing beneath the surface of their conversations. Add in a crazy amount of chemistry and you’ve got hilarious, yet completely steamy scenes between Logan and Grace.

Getting inside John Logan’s head comes with some family complications. His relationship with his father is extremely strained because of his father’s alcoholism. This also leads him to be in constant need of supervision.

Logan sacrifices his wants for his family’s needs. He’s loyal to a fault. Grace is his crutch, his number one confidant. Watching their relationship grow was honestly the best kind of reading experience. If you love funny banter, hockey players, and perfectly flawed heroes that you can’t help but fall in love with, pick up THE MISTAKE. I guarantee it is anything but.

Release Day Review + Giveaway: Kissing Madeline →

KM Final Ebook
Rating: 5 Cups of Coffee

Title: Kissing Madeline (Dearest, #3)
Author: Lex Martin
Release Date: April 27, 2015
Genre: New Adult Contemporary Romance
Cover Design by: Krista Ritchie

Goodreads’ Book Description:
What’s the worst thing about wanting a sexy NFL football player? Everyone else wants him, too.

After catching my boyfriend getting deep-throated by a skanky cage girl, I’ve learned my lesson – never date a professional athlete. Never. Besides, I have more important things to worry about, like not blowing my shot to make it as a broadcast reporter. I won’t let anything get in my way, not even the new “it boy” of the NFL and my hot-as-hell neighbor.

What’s the worst thing about getting death glares from his new neighbor? It doesn’t make him want her any less.

I’ve worked my ass off to make it to the pros. The last thing I need is the complication of a relationship, especially since my last one was a total train wreck. But I can’t stop thinking about the feisty girl next door with the smart mouth. And I’d love nothing more than to show her what to do with that mouth.

Friends with benefits might be the best idea he’s ever had. Or the worst.

Kissing Madeline is a companion novel to DEAREST CLEMENTINE and FINDING DANDELION. Each book is a stand-alone.

Natasha’s Experience:
DAREN SLOAN. Bless Daren Sloan.

I’m a huge fan of this NA series, and I honestly thought I could say that Clem and Gavin’s story would always be my #1, probably because they were my originals. But now? After Daren Sloan? HA! He has taken over and swiped that number #1 spot.

“Her smiles do something crazy to my chest. Like they’re drawing out air I haven’t breathed yet.”

Do you see that? Sloan is a hot-shot footballer who spouts of these absolutely perfect thoughts that leave me in a disarray of tears and feels. He’s got the greatest sense of humor, and he genuinely cares for Madeline McDermott.

“It was like I was addicted to him, to how safe he made me feel.”

Maddie is a journalist trying to pave a way for herself, but somehow finds that she is in charge of filming segments with one gorgeous Daren Sloan (who also happens to be her new neighbor wink wink I’m dying here). She and Daren have an insane amount of chemistry and feed off each other whenever they are near.

“It’s a sick disease, this thing with Daren. He infiltrates my every thought, dances through my dreams at night, and fills my head with flights of fancy.”

Starting a friends-with-benefits arrangement was the craziest and the greatest thing Daren and Maddie could have done. They are explosive together, but my favorite part about their relationship is their incredible friendship.

“Because when I allow myself to think about my future, I want one with him so badly my heart hurts with longing.”

Maddie and Daren’s story is all kinds of steamy, hilarious, crazy and overall, fan-freaking-tastic. I can’t even pinpoint why this book is now my favorite in the series; it’s just the whole story wrapped up in a bow for me. It was so well-written, as per usual, and was just the best way I could have spent 4.5 hours of my life. I loved this story, the characters, the dialogue and the way it made me feel.

If you’re a fan of this series, obviously you need KISSING MADELINE in your life. If you haven’t started this series, 1)  why????????? 2) Grab the first book, DEAREST CLEMENTINE, which is free right now and make no further plans for your day. You’ve got a new NA series to get through 😉 You’re welcome.

Don’t miss out on the first two books in this incredible series!

dearestclem findingdandelion

Twenty-year-old Clementine Avery doesn’t mind being called bitchy and closed off. It’s safe, and after being burned by her high school sweetheart and stalked by a professor her freshman year of college, safe sounds pretty damn good.

Her number one rule for survival? No dating. That is until she accidentally signs up for a romance writing class and needs material for her latest assignment. Sexy RA Gavin Murphy is more than happy to play the part of book boyfriend to help Clem find some inspiration, even if that means making out…in the name of research, of course.

As Gavin and Clem grow closer, they get entangled in the mystery surrounding a missing Boston University student, and Clem unwittingly becomes a possible target. Gavin tries to show Clem she can handle falling in love again, but she knows she has to be careful because her heart’s at stake…and maybe even her life.

FINDING DANDELION (#2 – Jax and Dani):
When soccer all-star Jax Avery collides with Dani Hart on his twenty-first birthday, their connection is instantaneous and explosive. For the first time in years, Jax isn’t interested in his usual hit-it and quit-it approach.

But Dani knows better. Allowing herself a night to be carefree and feel the intensity of their attraction won’t change anything when it comes to dealing with a player. So when Jax doesn’t recognize Dani the next time he sees her, it shouldn’t be a total shock. The fact that he’s her new roommate’s brother? That’s a shock.

Dani doesn’t regret that night with Jax, just the need to lie about it. Since her roommate has made it clear what she thinks about her brother’s “type” of girl, the last thing Dani wants is to admit what happened.

Jax knows he’s walking a fine line on the soccer team. One more misstep and he’s off the roster, his plans to go pro be damned. Except he can’t seem to care. About anything… except for the one girl who keeps invading his dreams.

Despite Jax’s fuzzy memory of his hot hookup with his sister’s friend, he can’t stay away from her, even if it means breaking his own rules. But there are bigger forces at work–realities that can end Dani’s college career and lies that can tear them apart.

Jax realizes what he’s losing if Dani walks away, but will he sacrifice his future to be with her? And will she let him if he does?

#5ReasonsFriday: The Good Girls →

goodgirlsRating: 4 Cups of Coffee

Goodreads’ Book Description:
My life was meticulously planned and I refused to deviate from that path. While my peers were partying, I prepared for the future. Then a tragic event destroyed everything and I learned that while I was looking ahead, I forgot to live in the moment.
Starting over seemed impossible until I met Cara McCarthy, who lived every day like it was her last. She opened my eyes to a world of chaos and disorder. I loved every minute of it. She was also dating Tristan Adams, one of the most gorgeous men I’d ever seen.
The three of us became inseparable. Our parents were oblivious and soon lines became blurred, feelings began to grow, and someone’s heart was going to get broken. I hoped it wasn’t mine.

Natasha’s Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Read This Book:
I’ve recently been in this f/f phase where I just need to read any and every single f/f new adult read, now. I’m so happy to have picked this one up because it was such an incredible story about two beautiful girls who couldn’t be more different, but they can’t seem to stop gravitating towards each other.

  1. I loved Ellie so much, probably because I feel like I could relate to her the most. She’s really focused on getting out of where she is to finally get to where she wants to be. However, her being so goal-oriented keeps her from living in the here-and-now.
  2. Cara is exuberant and breathes life into Ellie’s somewhat jaded world. Cara becomes her safe haven, her best friend and the only person she truly trusts.
  3. “She was like gravity, and my head was constantly in the clouds. I needed her to keep me grounded.”
  4. Somewhere along the lines their friendship becomes more. It was so incredible seeing this relationship evolve and how absolutely difficult it is to make something so complex work out.
  5. Cara and Ellie’s story was beautiful, frustrating (as any story where prejudice characters reside can be), passionate and so very real. Their story is one that I can imagine happens every day in the real world. And that is both terrifying and beautiful for different reasons. Sexuality should not breed hostility because it should not be judged. Every person deserves to feel love and give love just the same.

THE GOOD GIRLS is a story that needs to be read because everyone needs this kind of education in their life. Teresa Mummert nailed this one. Her phenomenal writing should be incentive enough to pick up this story and get lost in Cara and Ellie’s world.

Under a Painted Sky →

Goodreads’ Book Description:
Missouri, 1849: Samantha dreams of moving back to New York to be a professional musician—not an easy thing if you’re a girl, and harder still if you’re Chinese. But a tragic accident dashes any hopes of fulfilling her dream, and instead, leaves her fearing for her life. With the help of a runaway slave named Annamae, Samantha flees town for the unknown frontier. But life on the Oregon Trail is unsafe for two girls, so they disguise themselves as Sammy and Andy, two boys headed for the California gold rush. Sammy and Andy forge a powerful bond as they each search for a link to their past, and struggle to avoid any unwanted attention. But when they cross paths with a band of cowboys, the light-hearted troupe turn out to be unexpected allies. With the law closing in on them and new setbacks coming each day, the girls quickly learn that there are not many places to hide on the open trail.

This beautifully written debut is an exciting adventure and heart-wrenching survival tale. But above all else, it’s a story about perseverance and trust that will restore your faith in the power of friendship.

Alex’s Experience:
“I never heard anyone call the sky painted before, but it’s the perfect word. Clouds outlined in gold streak across the firmament, casting uneven shadows over the landscape.”

When I read the description of this novel, I was both excited and hesitant to read it. I was excited because the story is driven by two women characters – a Chinese girl named Samantha and a black girl named Annamae. Representation of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexualities, etc. in all forms of media is something very important to me, so this was right up my alley. I was hesitant because I generally don’t like Westerns. I sucked it up and read it anyway, and I’m so glad I did. Samantha and Annamae’s story of survival on the Oregon Trail in 1849 is compelling, suspenseful and even whimsical at times.

Fifteen-year-old Samantha is cultured, intelligent and talented. She dreams of opening up a music conservatory with her father, but after a tragic accident and horrible crime, she is forced to flee west to California with a runaway slave, Annamae. They disguise themselves as boys – Sammy and Andy – and embark on a journey that will test their strengths, both physically and emotionally. On their journey they join forces with three cowboys, and together they explore themes of race, sexuality, friendship, family and what it means to survive.

The fierce friendship that forms between Samantha and Annamae was definitely my favorite aspect of this novel. There are other things I really enjoyed too, like the near-death experiences that made my eyes go wide with panic and the slowly brewing romances that made my heart ache, but Samantha and Annamae’s refusal to surrender to the wild west was what made me love this story. These two vastly different girls – one cautious and a bit timid, one quick-witted and tough as nails – somehow come together and form a friendship that feels like family, and it’s so refreshing to read about. These two women of different cultures and lifestyles help each other survive despite their differences while also commenting on issues like the racial climate of the era, gender expression and sexuality. Can you hear me screaming about how important this is from where you are?

Another thing I liked about this novel is how well researched it is and how Stacey Lee made even the historical details of the era sound interesting. The Oregon Trail was harsh and unforgiving, and Lee definitely makes sure to remind you of that. The only reason I didn’t give this novel a full five cups of coffee was because I felt at some points the exposition and historical background information dragged out, but I’m not really a history buff, so that’s just a matter of personal opinion. I tend to want to get into the action right away without taking in the details and background. I should work on that.

If you’re looking for a diverse, honest novel that will inform and excite you, UNDER A PAINTED SKY is it. It has just the right amounts of candid social commentary, heart-stopping action and tender romance. Samantha and Annamae’s story will remind you that “maybe what matters is not so much the path as who walks beside you.”

Blog Tour + Giveaway: When I’m Gone →

Goodreads’ Book Description:
From #1 New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines comes the next new adult novel in the Rosemary Beach series, in which we meet Mase, a Texas heartthrob first introduced in Take a Chance who comes to Rosemary Beach to stir things up.

I had an urge to fix all her problems. Which was stupid. She was doing fine without me. But something about those big eyes…

Mase Colt-Manning has always preferred his humble life as a Texas rancher to his birthright as the son of a legendary rock star. In fact, he rarely visits his father’s rarefied world in Rosemary Beach, especially if it means bunking at his vile half-sister Nan’s house—until one visit leads to a chance encounter with a young, gorgeous house maid who awakens him with her off-key but spirited imitation of a country music star…

Reese Ellis finally has her freedom. After escaping a lifetime of abuse from her parents and classmates for an undiagnosed learning disorder, she seizes the opportunity to be a house maid to some of the richest families in Rosemary Beach. But her job is in jeopardy when she causes an accident at the home of her most important client, Nan Dillon. When a hot, half-naked stranger with a cowboy’s swagger comes to her rescue, she’s intrigued—then afraid once he shows his own interest. Reese has never met a trustworthy man in her life. Will Mase be any different?

Natasha’s Experience:
This is my favorite story from the Rosemary Beach series by far. It might have something to do with a perfect cowboy named Mase Colt-Manning. Seriously, #MaseIsMyMan is the most legitimate hashtag there is right now.

“When I’m gone, you can call me, and I’ll be there to listen.”

He embodies everything that you would want in a guy. He was a safe haven for Reese Ellis, a scarred woman who flees to Rosemary Beach in the hopes of building a new life for herself. Reese was this adorable, beautiful soul who captured Mase’s attention after a rather awkward/hilarious first impression.

Mase was an attentive and generous friend to Reese when she so desperately needed someone on her side. He was an even better confidant and lover when she needed that from him, too.

“I never want to make her do anything. Even love me. She has to love me all on her own.”

What I absolutely loved about Mase was how transparent he was about his feelings toward Reese. He wore his heart on his sleeve and wouldn’t hesitate dropping everything to come to her aid. It was refreshing seeing this gorgeous, grown man do everything he could in his power to make this insecure woman feel cherished.

“Mase had faith in me. I just needed more faith in myself.”

This story had me laughing, crying, holding my breath way more times than I had expected, and more importantly, loving the connection between Reese and Mase. Without trying to sound redundant or just insanely cliché, I felt that they were completely made for each other.

“I had never known anything could feel this complete.”

If you love this series (why wouldn’t you?), don’t miss out on Mase and Reese’s story. Expect it to become one of your newest favorites.
